What Type of Planner is Right for You?
You may have been told all of your life that having an agenda is crucial to time management. While this
sentiment may be true, it does not designate only one kind of agenda or planner. If the traditional planner
hasn’t worked for you in the past, please keep reading- this handout is for you! Below there is only a sample of
the various ways real students, teacher, entrepreneurs, and people from all walks of life have organized their
time with their own planning system.
To-Do Lists- Digital and Analog
Sometimes the simplest option is the best option! You don’t need a
complicated system if that’s not right for you. Every day or week
simply take out a sheet of paper and write down your tasks for the
day/week. I recommend dedicating a journal, notebook, or online
space specifically for this purpose and to bring your list with you
wherever you go and cross tasks off as you complete them.
Digital Recommendations: Google Drive, Google Keep, Evernote,
Wunderlist, Todoist
Structured Planners & Printables
On the other end of the planner spectrum, we have structured
planners and printables. This option is about either buying a
structured agenda with various capacities for planning different things
(see suggestions below) or finding printables online (often for free, or
at a low price). There are hundreds of options, so you are sure to find
something that suits your needs. Look up reviews online of best
planners for students, graduate students, teacher, etc. There is
something out there for everyone!

Bullet Journaling
Bullet journals requires as much or as little preparation as you want,
because bullet journaling it’s all about you! You make the planner, you
set the format, you make whatever it is that you need. All bullet
journals require is a journal and pen (though, art supplies are certainly
fun, if you’re into that). There are tons of guides online to help you set
one up, and blogs, Instagram accounts, and Pinterest boards
dedicated to fun and unique examples. The sky is the limit!
