Where to Learn Turkish
There are different alternatives for foreigners to learn Turkish. The first one is Turkish
language courses offered in Public Education Centers by the Ministry of National Edu-
cation. You can easily enroll in your local Public Education Center and start to learn
Turkish.
In addition to the Turkish language courses organized by the Ministry of National Edu-
cation, you can easily learn Turkish at the courses offered by Yunus Emre Institute.
With more than 40 culture centers worldwide, Yunus Emre Institute aims to introduce
Turkish culture, and use culture and art to establish a continuous and permanent inte-
raction between national, traditional and modern values in addition to teaching Turkish.
In addition to the activities organized in their locations, these culture centers operate
in the field of traditional arts, protection of cultural heritage, artistic production in diffe-
rent disciplines, and development of cultural policies. Thus, you can familiarize yourself
with the Turkish culture while you learn Turkish. For further information about Yunus
Emre Institute and culture centers, visit www.yee.org.tr. Yunus Emre Institute also
offers Turkish Language education through a remote education portal. The portal is
accessible at www.turkce.yee.org.tr.
There are also Turkish and Foreign Languages Application and Research Centers es-
tablished by many universities in Turkey to teach Turkish to foreigners. You can easily
enroll in Turkish language courses through such organizations.
In addition, a lot of Civil Society Organizations including primarily Kızılay offer Turkish
language courses certified by the Ministry of National Education. Certain private cour-
ses also teach Turkish language.
While Turkish courses offered by the Ministry of National Education are free of charge,
other courses may require payment.
