CHAPTER II
THE STUDENTS INTERROGATIVE SENTENCES IN ARABIC
In this section, the researcher explains the research finding of the field. The
researcher conducted the research in some steps: firstly the researcher explained the
purpose of doing research to students, then secondly the researcher checked students
schedule to be interview, and the third the researcher come the class to know their
interrogative sentences in English and Arabic. The researcher interviewed the students
about interrogative sentences in English and Arabic.
This chapter, the researcher describes the students interrogative sentences in Arabic.
It from answers of interview that ask them to translated interrogative sentences from
English to Arabic. It is translation in spoken spontaneously. The researcher describes it as
research finding and related to theory in discussion.
This is the result of the interview to students MA MU about interrogative sentences
in Arabic. This interview use interview guide, so before it the researcher had had the right
answer. Everybody give different answer appropriate to their skill in nahwu or grammar in
English. They are eight sentences of jumlah istifham and jumlah istifham nafi.
2.1. Jumlah istifham
Jumlah istifham is interrogative sentences in Arabic. It begins huruf istifham that
next can be fiil, isim, jer majrur, jumlah idofi, tamyiz, or structure (tarbik) of mubtada
and khabar also tarkib fiil and fail. Jumlah istifhan use isim istifham ﻞھ, ﻢﻛ, ﻦﻣَ , ﻦﻤِﻟ,
يأ, اذﺎﻣ and ﻒﯿﻛ.
1) Did you come late to class? ؟ ﻞﺼﻔﻟا ﻰﻟا اﺮﺨﺌﺘﻣ ﺖَ ﺌﺟ ﻞھ
A sentence above is jumlah istifham. But the researcher would to analyze is
jumlah istifham. It begins isim istifham ﻞھ as huruf on jumlah istifham and then ﺖَ ﺌﺟ
is tarkib fiil faiI consist fiil madhi and dhomir muttasil ﺖﻧأ; اﺮﺨﺌﺘﻣ is isim nakiroh
as tamyiz; ﻞﺼﻔﻟا ﻰﻟا is jer majrur consist huruf jer and isim marifat as hal.

The table above shows the students answers of this sentence have five
differences answers. They are: First (؟ ﻞﺼﻔﻟا ﻰﻟا ﺮﺧَﺄﺘﯾ ﻞھ) by S1.AIS.SA2;
S5.AIS.SA2; S11.AIS.SA2 is correct answer grammatically than begins isim
istifham ﻞھ as huruf on jumlah istifham and then ﺮﺧَﺄﺘﯾ is fiil mudhore as tarkib fiil
faiI that has ulterior dhomir mustatar ﻮھ and ﻞﺼﻔﻟا ﻰﻟا is jer majrur consist huruf
jer and isim makan as hal. Second (؟ﻞﺼﻔﻟا ﻞﺧد تﺮﺧﺄﺗ ﻞھ) by S2.AIS.SA2;
S6.AIS.SA2 is wrong answer grammatically that begins ﻞھ as huruf on jumlah
istifham and then تﺮﺧﺄﺗ is fiil mudhore as tarkib fiil faiI that has ulterior dhomir
mustatar ﺖﻧأ and next is error grammatical caused have two fiil without huruf.
Third (؟ ﻞﺼﻔﻟا ﻰﻟا تﺮﺧﺄﺗأ) by S10.AIS.SA2 is correct answer grammatically that
begin isim istifham أ then تﺮﺧﺄﺗ is fiil mudhore as tarkib fiil faiI that has
ulterior dhomir mustatar ﺖﻧأ and ﻞﺼﻔﻟا ﻰﻟا is jer majrur consist huruf jer and isim
makan as hal. And the last (؟ ﻞﺼﻔﻟا ﻞﺧﺪﺑ تﺮﺧﺄﺗ ﺖﻧأ ﻞھ) is by S3.AIS.SA2;
S4.AIS.SA2; S12.AIS.SA2 wrong answer of target sentence. It has two dhomir
after isim istifham ﻞھ then dhomir munfassil ﺖﻧأ as mubtada; تﺮﺧﺄﺗ is is tarkib fiil
faiI as khobar that has ulterior dhomir mustatar ﺖﻧأ; ﻞﺼﻔﻟا ﻞﺧﺪﺑ is hal consist jer
majrur and tarkib idhofi. Moreover, the students jumlah istifham above are the
mistake of less huruf on two fiil.
2) How far did you walk yesterday? ؟ﺲِ ﻣﻷا ﻰﻓ ﻰﺸِ ﻤْ َﺗ اﺮً ﺘْ ﻣِ ﻢﻛ
A sentence above is interrogative sentence on right and left is jumlah
istifham. But the researcher would to analyze is jumlah istifham. It begins isim
istifham ﻢﻛ as huruf on jumlah istifham and then اﺮً ﺘْ ﻣِ is isim masdar ghoiru mim as
tamyiz; ﻰﺸِ ﻤْ َﺗ is fiil mudhore as tarkib fiil-faiI; and ﺲِ ﻣﻷا ﻰﻓ is jer majrur consist
huruf jer and isim zaman as hal.

translated caused اﺪً ﯿﻌﺑ (far) but correct answer grammatically that begins isim
istifham ﻢﻛ as huruf on jumlah istifham and then اﺪً ﯿﻌﺑ is isim masdar ghoiru mim as
tamyiz; ﻰﺸِ ﻤْ َﺗ is fiil mudhore as tarkib fiil-faiI; and ﺲِ ﻣﻷا ﻰﻓ is jer majrur consist
huruf jer and isim zaman as hal. Second (؟ﺲِ ﻣﻷا ﻰﺸِ ﻤْ َﺗ اﺮً ﺘْ ﻣِ ﻢﻛ) by S1.AIS.SA3 is
correct translated but wrong answer grammatically that begins isim istifham ﻢﻛ as
huruf on jumlah istifham and then اﺮً ﺘْ ﻣِ is isim masdar ghoiru mim; ﻰﺸِ ﻤْ َﺗ is fiil
mudhore as tarkib fiil faiI; and next is error grammatical caused before ﺲِ ﻣﻷا
would like huruf to making jer majrur. Third (؟ﺲِ ﻣﻷا ﻰﻓ اﺪً ﯿﻌﺑ ﻰﺸِ ﻤْ ﯾ ﺖﻧأ ﻞھ) by
S3.AIS.SA3; S4.AIS.SA3; S7.AIS.SA3; S12.AIS.SA3 is wrong translated caused
ﻞھ (what) اﺪً ﯿﻌﺑ (far) but correct answer grammatically that begins isim istifham ﻞھ as
huruf on jumlah istifham and then ﺖﻧأ is dhomir muttasil as mubtada; ﻰﺸِ ﻤْ ﯾ is fiil
mudhore as khobar; اﺪً ﯿﻌﺑ is tamyiz; and ﺲِ ﻣﻷا ﻰﻓ is jer majrur consist huruf jer and
isim zaman as hal. Fourth (؟ﺲِ ﻣﻷا ﻰﻓ ﻰﺸِ ﻤْ َﺗ اﺮً ﯿﺼﻗ ﻢﻛ) by S10.AIS.SA3 is wrong
translated caused اﺮً ﯿﺼﻗ (short) but correct answer grammatically that begins isim
istifham ﻢﻛ as huruf on jumlah istifham and then اﺮً ﯿﺼﻗ is isim masdar ghoiru mim;
ﻰﺸِ ﻤْ َﺗ is fiil mudhore as tarkib fiil-faiI; and ﺲِ ﻣﻷا ﻰﻓ is jer majrur consist huruf jer
and isim zaman as hal. And the last (؟ﺲِ ﻣﻷا ﻰﻓ ﻦﯾﺮﻓﺎﺴﺗ ﺖﻧأ ﻞھ) by S5.AIS.SA3 is
wrong translated caused ﻞھ (what) but correct answer grammatically that begins
isim istifham ﻞھ as huruf on jumlah istifham and then ﺖﻧأ is dhomir muttasil as
mubtada; ﻦﯾﺮﻓﺎﺴﺗ is fiil mudhore as khabar and ﺲِ ﻣﻷا ﻰﻓ is jer majrur consist huruf
jer and isim zaman as hal.
3) Who is beside you? ؟ﻚَ ﺒﻧﺎﺠﺑ ﻦﻣَ
A sentence above is interrogative sentence on right and left is jumlah
istifham. But the researcher would to analyze is jumlah istifham. It begins isim
istifham ﻦﻣَ as mubtada and then ﻚَ ﺒﻧﺎﺠﺑ is khabar consist jer majrur and tarkib
idhofi.
