CHALLENGES
• Due to corona pandemic and lockdown
company secretaries and professionals
facing many challenges.
• Managing team members Managing staff remotely is
an entirely different skill to managing in person. Having
the tools and resources to communicate and track work
logs and projects is an integral part of creating an
environment that is conducive to productivity and not
falling into the downward spiral of micro-management.
• A home office is a very different environment to
its traditional counterpart.
• Challenges of implementation remain both from the
employers and employees’ perspectives.
Mental Health and
Wellbeing
The sudden shift in work culture took a toll
on overall employee health and wellbeing.
Stress, anxiety, and other mental health
issues have always been there, and it is no
new story. Organizations have always been
initiating wellness programs and providing
employees with security, health benefits,
and flexibility to help them overcome their
health issues
Employee Communication
Communication is another major challenge
that is on the priority list. Communication, in
itself, is a critical aspect that needs to be
taken into account whether or not the
workforce is working remotely.
Employee Engagement
The ultimate company goal is the
productivity of its employees. It becomes
challenging to keep the employees engaged
when they are working remotely and that
too, in a crisis. The internal communication
is compromised, and keeping everyone on
the same page becomes tough.
Uncertainty
Uncertainty can paralyze anyone. The
daunting feeling of not knowing what the
future holds or what measures to take to
sustain organizational operations is a huge
challenge. We all are more or less affected
by uncertainty.
Flexible work arrangements
In order to ensure minimal contact between
employees, as well as between employees
and customers, suppliers, and other
stakeholders, flexible work arrangements
should be considered. For staff that are not
required to be in the office, remote working
should be enabled.
•Split team arrangements
• A way to mitigate the unnecessary spreading of the
virus and to ensure business continuity is to split
teams. If one person within a team is infected, the
rest will most likely be put into quarantine meaning
they will not be able to work (if their position does
not allow for remote working).
