2. General format
2.1. Structure and Language
Submitted manuscripts are in Word files (as .doc or .docx) and must not
be protected.
Manuscript should be written in good English (American or British usage
but not mixed of both) or in Bahasa Indonesia.
Printed manuscripts are typed in Arial style, double- spaced in all parts
of the manuscript with 3 cm of all sides.
2.2. Section guideline for manuscript
a. Title
The full title must be 150 characters or fewer, concise with no
abbreviation.
b. Authors and Affiliation
All author names are listed in the following order
- First name
- Middle name
- Last name
Each author should list an associated department, university or
organizational affiliation and its location, including city,
state/province and country (if applicable).
One author should be designated as the corresponding author, and
his or her email address or other contact information should be
included on the manuscript cover page. This information will be
published with the article if accepted.
c. Abstract
The abstract should be concise and comprises: main objective(s) of
the study, brief explanation of the method(s) and summary of the
most important results and their significance.
Abstracts should not exceed 250 words and does not contain
citations and abbreviation (if possible).
Manuscripts in Bahasa Indonesia must also have title and abstract

in English.
d. Acknowledgements
People who contributed in the study but do not fit the authorship
criteria, should be mentioned in the acknowledgements. Do not
reveal funding sources anywhere in the manuscript.
e. References
General guidelines
• NMSJ uses the reference style as outlined in the ICMJE
sample references, also referred to as the “Vancouver” style.
• References must be listed at the end of the manuscript and
numbered in the order that they appear in the text.
• Authors may not cite unavailable and unpublished work,
including manuscripts that have been submitted but not yet
accepted (e.g., “unpublished work,” “data not shown”).
• Authors should not state 'unpublished work' or 'data not
shown,' but instead include those data as supplementary
material or deposit the data in a publicly available database.
• Journal name abbreviations should be those found in the
NCBI databases.
References should be formatted as follows:
