Observations
• Health Records are an important part of the ecosystem
• Many block-chain pilots and proof of concepts occurred over the last 2 years. Waiting for an
authoritative source or public entity willing to publish valid claims/information to a node.
• Vendors have stopped talking about blockchain - now focusing on value add of their service to Health
IT environment
• Early success using Distributed Ledger Technology – private chains within and enterprise to extend
existing SOA/SOAP based services – enables agile microservices that support Big DATA - AI type
services (HHS Procurement is an example)
• There are few flavors of blockchain taking most of the market with input support by major companies.
(Etherum and Hyperledger in particular)
• Slow progress for reward program – earn credit/coins - stood up to support patient participation in a
PHR or Research clinical trial
