Preparation for placement
• Begin thinking of what your objectives are? What do you want to get out of this placement?
• Do some reading around what a Leadership and project placement is
• Find out what your personality type and learning style is, so you can work best with your new
colleagues
• Find out if you’ll be working with other students, or see if other students have undertaken
this placement type before for tips and ideas, or to form a buddy system
• Make sure to contact your placement as soon as possible to learn the logistics of it and any
expectations they may have
• Communicate to your educators your previous experience, goals and any worries you have
• Ensure you have a safe, productive and confidential environment to work from, and you have
all the necessary equipment
• If you must travel anywhere, preplan the route to avoid any last minute stress
• Plan your workday ahead to make sure you can get your tasks done, whilst also leaving time
for yourself to relax
