• Questionnaire or ‘interview schedule’:
– A printed or on-line list of questions
• Survey
– Whole process of conducting an investigation which
involves a number of ‘subjects’
• Questionnaire survey
– A survey involving the use of a questionnaire
• ie. a ‘survey’ is not a ‘questionnaire’

Roles of questionnaire surveys
• Used when a specified range of information required
• Typically involve just a sample of the population

• Transparent methodology
• Quantification easily communicated/understood
• Repeat surveys can study change over time
• Can cover a wide range of (sporting) activities
