· Fabric Design-
o Pattern & motifs
o Types of motif
o Fabric design in garment construction
o Effect of fabric design on body

· Figure type and its analysis
· Selecting and designing clothing according to figure types

· Factors affecting the choice of colors, texture and prints according to the age, size,
personality, complexion and occasion

· To enhance the creative skill of drawing & sketching.
Course Content:
10 hrs
· Line drawings, object drawing, still life drawing, nature drawing and architectural
drawing
· Ideal Body Proportion and Figure types 5 hrs
· Drawing of block figure – 8 ½, 10 ½ in both male and female 5 hrs
· Drawing a stick figure for both male and female 5 hrs
· Drawing fashion figures for both male and female with different poses (front,
back, side) 10 hrs
· Dividing the body into various parts using lines- side seam, armhole, jewel-neck
line, panty line, bust line etc. 10 hrs

Sewing Techniques
Practical (II)

Objectives:
· To incorporate the basic stitching techniques
· To impart skill in sample making
Course Content:
Basic Hand Stitches – 20 hrs
· Temporary – Basting- Even & Uneven, Diagonal, Slip and Pin basting
· Permanent – Running, Hemming, Backstitch and Button hole
· Hem finishes- Turned & Stitched, Hand finish and Double stitch
Sewing Machines – 8 hrs
· Types, main parts & their functions, minor defects and their remedies and correct
sitting posture
· Main adjustment while operating sewing machine, special attachment and their
use of different threads and needles for various fabrics
· Operating the machine
Machine Stitches - 32 hrs
· Seams- Topstitch seam, Lapped seam, Strap seam, Run n fell seam and French
seam
· Seam Finishes- Pinked, Edge stitched, Double stitched, Overcast, Herringbone
and Bound seam
· Fullness – Pleats- Knife Pleats, Inverted pleats and Accordion pleats
Darts- Single dart and Double dart
Tucks- Pin, Cross, Diamond and Scalloped
· Facing – Simple and Shaped facing
· Bindings – Single bias and Double bias
· Placket-Continuous wrap placket and Two piece placket
· Pocket –Inseam pocket, Kurta pocket and Patch pocket
