Dear colleagues,
For the last 20 years, the Department of
Epidemiology of the German Institute of
Human Nutrition Potsdam-Rehbrücke (DIfE)
has been devoting its major research activities New
in nutritional epidemiology to the role of food,
diet, metabolism and anthropometric measures perspectives
in the development of cancer and other chronic
diseases. in Nutritional
For these purposes, the department has
been pursuing the development of innovative Epidemiology
methods of dietary assessment and the appli-
cation of new technologies in data collection
and analyses of data and biological samples.
These capabilities have been instrumental to
successfully conduct the European Prospective
Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition (EPIC)-
Potsdam study, one of the largest cohort
studies on nutrition and disease in Germany to Scientific Organiser
date. Other upcoming prospective studies will Prof. Dr. Heiner Boeing

This 20-year milestone presents us with the
