Re: Nomination letter for __________ for the Rising Star Award  
        
       Dear Committee Members, It gives me great pleasure to nominate __________ as a recipient for the Rising 
       Star Award. I have known __________ since her arrival at Dixie State University; however, it has only been in 
       the last year that I have become fully aware of what __________ means to the overall success of Dixie State 
       University. I have come to fully appreciate the commitment and understanding that __________ has for all 
       students, staff, and faculty, and what is required for her success. 
        
       __________ is already a star on campus, but I am nominating __________ for the Rising Star Award only 
       because of her short time with us at Dixie State University. To save this nomination from being pages and 
       pages of reasoning behind my nomination, I will highlight a few of the many significant and impactful ways 
       __________ is a Rising Star (I did my homework…) 
        
       __________ refocused and reorganized the Multicultural and Inclusion Center (MIC), resulting in an increase 
       of over 2% retention rate fall for all demographic groups. This is a total reverse of a decline from the previous 
       year, which is reason alone to nominate __________ for the Rising Star Award. 
        
       __________ and __________ collaboratively created a Food Efficiency Program for students who have food 
       disparities. This program will go into effect this fall semester. 
        
       __________ leadership and direction took the MLK Day of Service in 2018 with 20 participants and 
       catapulted it to the MLK Day of Service 2020 with five off campus community partners and 109 participants. I 
       am not a mathematician, but an increase of 20 participants to 109 equals a 445% increase. If only she could 
       do the same with my investments! 
        
        __________ presented to multiple community partnerships on diversity, equity, and inclusion, including the 
       St. George/Washington County Chambers of Commerce, and the Utah Government Finance Officers 
       Association. 
        
        __________ developed, organized, and hosted, the MIC Student Leadership Planning Workshop with me as a 
       featured guest, which I truly enjoyed and appreciated.  
        
       __________ presented to multiple community partnerships on diversity, equity, and inclusion, including the 
       St. George/Washington County Chambers of Commerce, and the Utah Government Finance Officers 
       Association 
        
        __________ has just served her first year as a UWHEN (Staff) Board Member, in which she hosted two 
       presentations empowering and encouraging DSU women and young women to become and embrace the 
       leaders they are. 
        
        __________ volunteers and gets involved in many Dixie State University activities, but one of her favorites 
       was being selected as a judge for the DSU Homecoming Parade. 
        
       On a quiet and behind the scenes note, __________ and her __________ delivered Thanksgiving meals to 
       students who were unable to return home or who have food disparities and are in need of a little love this 
       past Thanksgiving. 
        
       I know my nomination of __________ contains only a few examples of how I know she is a Rising Star at Dixie 
       State University. I can’t imagine the unknown acts of service, leadership, dedication, and love, __________ 
       does daily that go unnoticed. I thank the Staff Association Awards Committee for this opportunity to 
       nominate Rising Star __________ for consideration.
